Founders Fund Grant Announced , St. Christopher’s Parish Food Pantry

John Hunter, Executive Director of the Tuscola County Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the TCCF has granted a $500 Founders Fund grant to the St. Christopher’s Parish Food Pantry. This grantwas used in conjunction with other funds from various sources, to secure food resources primarily through The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, along with Dollar Tree. The geographic area served includes the towns of Akron, Fairgrove, Unionville, Vassar, Reese, Mayville, Caro, Cass City, Kingston, Silverwood, Deford and Millington. Hours of operation are from 9 am – 3 pm Monday and Wednesday.

St. Christopher’s Parish Food Pantry, founded in 2015, operates from the parish center under the non-profit status of the parish, with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz as its’ pastor. Its purpose in the biblical sense is “To Feed the Hungry” by providing emergency food to those in need on a monthly basis. Approximately 80 volunteers rotate various positions needed for operations.
